about the essay my favorite subject English
My favorite teacher is Rajani mam. She is my class teacher too and takes attendance daily in the morning. She is a strict teacher however very funny and caring in nature. She is very disciplined and punctual. She does her all the works and projects related to the class at right time without getting late. I like her very much as she tries very easy ways to teach us good things. We enjoy her class. She teaches us English subject. She makes us laugh by telling lots of jokes in between when she teaches. She also guides us very well during any school or inter-school competition of dance, sports, academic, etc. She teaches us to share things in class among our colleagues such as lunch or other needed things.
My favorite teacher - Brother Darmody, a Christian Brother, who I genuinely respected and who tried very hard to influence me, regrettably, I was having none of it. I did well academically but most of my time in class was spent on subjects other than those appearing on the blackboard. I think Brother Darmody taught English.
At 14 I bumped into an opportunity which I could see would get me out the school gate for the last time, I seized it and next thing I knew, I had a job. I announced this at home over the dinner table to parents who were not enjoying a terrific time, we were renting space in a small terrace in Melbourne with the landlord still in residence, my mother providing his cooking and cleaning.
Brother Darmody found out about my plan and began his campaign. As far as he was concerned I showed promise and must not be allowed to leave school at such a tender age. He took me aside in the playground a number of times and tried to convince me of a bright future fueled by further education, particularly reminding me that next year I would be attending classes in the Science Room, he almost got me with that one. He even suggested that he could organise the waiving of school fees, that gave me a bit of a scare since that could cause me a bit of bother at home if it was passed on, it wasn’t.
So here I am in my seventies, still working, living in the country, building and supporting specialized databases for a number of clients large and small in a variety of industries. I enjoy what I am doing very much and there is some evidence to suggest I am good at it.
My thoughts turn to Brother Darmody every now and again and although I have done reasonably well I have this sneaking suspicion that if I had accepted the influence he was anxious to provide I might have achieved at a higher level. But then, I wouldn’t be where I am now with my much loved but long suffering wife.
